Last year I created two pieces, The Adeline Top, and The Twiggy Tunic

Materials:

• 5MM hook
• Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton; appr. 4- 8 balls of yarn depending on size (yarn I used!)
• Scissors
• Stitch Markers
• Tapestry Needle

Gauge:

Ribbing – 16 stitches x 16 rows = 4 square inches

Main Stitch – 16 stitches x 8 rows = 4 square inches

Abbreviations:

• CH – chain
• ST – stitch
• DC – double crochet
• SC – single crochet
• DCC – double crochet cluster: YO, go into the correct stitch, pull up a loop. YO and pull through 2 loops. Skip the next stitch. YO, go into the very next stitch, pull up a loop, YO pull through 2 loops, YO pull through the remaining 3 loops, CH 1

Pattern Notes for the Easy Crochet Summer Top

The sizes will be in the following order:

(XS, S, M, L, XL)

The pattern works in 4 different pieces which will be assembled together. Your front and back panel (identical panels) and then 2 arm cuffs (identical).

Each panel works from the bottom starting with the ribbing waistband.

Pattern Instructions for the Easy Crochet Summer Top

PANEL (make 2)

RIBBED WAISTBAND:

• CH 21
• Row 1 – SC in the 2^nd chain from the hook. Continue across with SC. CH 1. Turn
• Row 2 – (CH 1 counts as SC) place a SC in the back loop of every stitch all the way across. CH 1. Turn.
• Row 3 – (63, 71, 79, 87, 95) repeat row 2.

MAIN PANEL STITCH

• After finishing the ribbing you will turn the work to begin working from the bottom of the panel up to the neck area. CH 2.
• Row 1 – (CH 2 counts as DC) Place a DC in each stitch all the way across for a total of (63, 71, 79, 87, 95) CH 3. Turn.
• Row 2 –  (CH 3 does NOT count as DC) Work a DCC all the way across ending with a DC in the turning chain. CH 3. Turn.
• Row 3 – (32, 33, 34, 35, 36) repeat row 2. Tie off and leave a long tail for seaming the shoulders together.

ARM CUFF RIBBING

• CH 11
• Row 1 – SC in the 2^nd CH from the hook. Continue all the way across with SC. CH 1. Turn.
• Row 2 – (CH 1 counts as SC) SC in the back loop of every stitch all the way across. CH 1. Turn.
• Rows 3 – (39, 41, 46, 48, 54) repeat row 2.

SHOULDER SEAMING

Laying your two panels with right sides together. You will measure from your shoulder inward towards where the neck/head hole would go. You will then seam together the panels with a running stitch or a SC for a total of (5”, 5”, 6”, 6”, 6”) making sure things are even on both sides.

***feel free to make adjustments as necessary when it comes to your head hole. I realize there are different head sizes. Just be sure things are even on both sides before seaming together.

ARM CUFF SEAMING

After seaming the shoulders, you can lay your piece flat to join the sides together

From your shoulder seam, you will measure down (10”, 10”, 11”, 12”, 13.5”) on both sides. Place your stitch markers in both spots. Then you will attach your ribbed cuff to the same spots.

Next, you will use your crochet hook and SC the cuff to the panels.

SEAMING THE GARMENT CLOSED

Taking your piece, you will fold the right sides together. Be sure to make the seams line up as perfectly as possible. Use the running stitch to seam the sides closed. Start at the arm cuff and work your way down to the waistband.
