Pattern Instructions for the Easy Crochet Summer Top
PANEL (make 2)
RIBBED WAISTBAND:
- CH 21
- Row 1 – SC in the 2nd chain from the hook. Continue across with SC. CH 1. Turn
- Row 2 – (CH 1 counts as SC) place a SC in the back loop of every stitch all the way across. CH 1. Turn.
- Row 3 – (63, 71, 79, 87, 95) repeat row 2.
MAIN PANEL STITCH
- After finishing the ribbing you will turn the work to begin working from the bottom of the panel up to the neck area. CH 2.
- Row 1 – (CH 2 counts as DC) Place a DC in each stitch all the way across for a total of (63, 71, 79, 87, 95) CH 3. Turn.
- Row 2 – (CH 3 does NOT count as DC) Work a DCC all the way across ending with a DC in the turning chain. CH 3. Turn.
- Row 3 – (32, 33, 34, 35, 36) repeat row 2. Tie off and leave a long tail for seaming the shoulders together.
ARM CUFF RIBBING
- CH 11
- Row 1 – SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. Continue all the way across with SC. CH 1. Turn.
- Row 2 – (CH 1 counts as SC) SC in the back loop of every stitch all the way across. CH 1. Turn.
- Rows 3 – (39, 41, 46, 48, 54) repeat row 2.
SHOULDER SEAMING
Laying your two panels with right sides together. You will measure from your shoulder inward towards where the neck/head hole would go. You will then seam together the panels with a running stitch or a SC for a total of (5”, 5”, 6”, 6”, 6”) making sure things are even on both sides.
***feel free to make adjustments as necessary when it comes to your head hole. I realize there are different head sizes. Just be sure things are even on both sides before seaming together.
ARM CUFF SEAMING
After seaming the shoulders, you can lay your piece flat to join the sides together
From your shoulder seam, you will measure down (10”, 10”, 11”, 12”, 13.5”) on both sides. Place your stitch markers in both spots. Then you will attach your ribbed cuff to the same spots.
Next, you will use your crochet hook and SC the cuff to the panels.
SEAMING THE GARMENT CLOSED
Taking your piece, you will fold the right sides together. Be sure to make the seams line up as perfectly as possible. Use the running stitch to seam the sides closed. Start at the arm cuff and work your way down to the waistband.

sandra mcnally
could you please tell me what bust measurements your sizes relate to. Id love to make this top. I’m a size 36in bust, uk size 12-14. Thanks
Jerica
Hi Sandra! The measurements I use for all garment designs are from the craft yarn council. You can find the direct link here:

This should help you decide which size would be best for your body and personal preference. Thanks for stopping by!
Ruth
Hi there! I’m really enjoying making this top! I have a beginners question though. For the first row of dcc on the first panel, how many stitches should you end up with? Is it the same, or less than the previous row? I am working on a small, so I have 71 stitches on the dc row, then I ended up with 68 on the next row. Did I go wrong somewhere? Thanks! I know this post is fairly old, I hope you still answer comments! Xxx
Julie
Hi Ruth, I’m so glad that you like the pattern! You should have the same number of stitches in each row. I’m thinking somewhere in there maybe 2 sts were skipped instead of 1? Please let me know if you are still having trouble. Inga
Hi,
I am working on size M. Could you please tell me how many rows on main panel I should work when repeating row 2? In the instructions there are just 4 numbers and I don’t know which one refers to M size 🙂
Julie
Hi Inga, Sorry about that, and thank you for catching that for me! The number you were looking for is 32. Happy Hooking!
Robin
A question was ask about how many row 2 are for a med. you said 32. But on the pattern I purchased it says xs is 33 rows so my question is how many rows for large.
Julie
Hi Robin, There was an update that was made to the pattern and a new pdf was uploaded. Please email me at hello.yarnhookneedles@gmail.com if you are having any troubles downloading the update. Thank you, Julie

How many balls of wool for size large?
Tracey Holland
On the panels at the front. If I chain only 21 stitches, how can that fit a large size? How many do I chain on front panel?
