Ever wanted to try your hand at amigurumi? This Amigurumi carrot pattern is the perfect pattern to start with.

The History of Mr. Carrot & His Family…

Mr. Carrot was able to avoid being snatched up by Peter Rabbit in Mr. McGregor’s garden! He was just a baby carrot at the time and since then he’s gone on to pluck Mrs. Carrot out of a neighboring garden.

Together they have grown in to a vibrant little family!

Materials for the Amigurumi Carrot Family

LEVEL: Intermediate

Hook: 4MM

YARN: size 3 cotton yarn (I used the Pima Cotton from WeAreKnitters)

Additional Items You Will Need:

  1. Stuffing for each of the carrots. (feel free to use whatever you have on hand: poly-fill, fabric scraps, yarn scraps etc.)
  2. Stitch Markers
  3. Sewing Needle
  4. Something for the eyes (black yarn, embroidery floss or ami eyes)
  5. Contrasting yarn for the hair
  6. (optional) blush for the cheeks.

Pattern Notes:

Abbreviations in US Terms:

  • SC – single crochet
  • Sc2tog – single crochet 2 together
  • SL ST – slip stitch

MAGIC RING: (ea. Carrot starts with this technique)

Wrap your yarn around your 1st and 2nd finger. Slide your hook from right to left under the 2 strands lying on top of your 2 fingers. Using the 1st finger of your opposing hand, hold all the strands, YO and draw up a loop (carefully). YO again and your stitch will be secure and ready to make the needed stitches.
