Materials:
- 5MM hook (child – teen size)
- 6MM hook (larger teen – adult)
- MY FAVORITE HOOKS
- 1 skein of Knitted Wit 100% Superwash Merino (visit her DYE shop here)

Pattern Notes:
You will be joining this chain and working this beanie in the round working from the bottom up. Be sure your chain does not become twisted before you join with a SL ST.
It’s also important to mention, this beanie is a fitted style. Perfect for kids, men and anyone who favors a fit beanie over a slouchy beanie. I have also included a YouTube tutorial available for those who need more visual guidance. >>>>video linked above<<<<
Once you have finished the correct number of rows, you will flip the beanie inside out.
You will seam the top of the beanie closed by feeding the tapestry needle in and out of the top stitches. Pull tight and weave the tail in and out of the open space so as to make sure everything closes really well!
The Pattern:
CH 60 (use the required hook to change the size of the beanie)
SL ST to the CH 1 space. (be sure your chain isn’t twisted)
Round 1 – CH 2. Place a HDC in each stitch all the way around for a total of 60 HDC. SL ST to the top of the CH 2. (CH 2 doesn’t count as a HDC)
Round 2 – CH 2. *FPDC (front post double crochet) around the HDC post of the previous row. HDC in each of the next 2 stitches*. Repeat from * to * all the way around. Be sure you maintain a total of 60 stitches all the way around. SL ST to the top of the chain 2.
Round 3 – CH 2. *FPDC (front post double crochet) around the FPDC post of the previous row. HDC in each of the next 2 stitches*. Repeat from * to * all the way around. Be sure you maintain a total of 60 stitches all the way around. SL ST to the top of the chain 2.
Rounds 4 – 22: CH 2. *FPDC (front post double crochet) around the FPDC post of the previous row. HDC in each of the next 2 stitches*. Repeat from * to * all the way around. Be sure you maintain a total of 60 stitches all the way around. SL ST to the top of the chain 2.
How to close your crochet beanie…
Closing your beanie is simple.
First, you will take your tapestry needle and weave it in and out of the top stitches and pull gently to full bring our beanie to a closed postion.
Next, with your tail stil long and your tapestry needle still in place, you will then weave the tapestry needle in and out until you no longer have an open space.
From here you can eaitehr sew on a button for attaching a pompom or you can simply weave in your tail and wear your beanie!
