Make Crochet Snowflakes

These snowflakes are a part of the #acrochetchristmas challenge I am hosting over in the YHN group! If you’re not already a member I’d love to see you there!

I will be sharing three different styles of snowflakes all stemming from the same pattern. For those who are more visual, I would encourage you to watch the video tutorial for specific steps on creating each snowflake!

Get a printable PDF for $2.99 will include all three snowflake sizes.

MATERIALS:

  • 5MM crochet hook
  • desired yarn in a size 4 (I used Red Heart Metallic)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors

PATTERN NOTES:

In version 2 & 3 there is a puff stitch. Below the stitch is explained as well as the picot on the first snowflake.

To achieve a very defined snowflake, you will want to steam block it. Once it is dry you can spray with starch or your favorite fabric stiffener. Doing so will make your snowflake sturdy and lay beautifully wherever you decide to display it!

puff stitch (PS)

YO, insert your hook into the specified stitch and draw up a loop. YO pull through 2 loops. Repeat this process for a total of 6 loops on your hook. YO pull through all the loops. PS complete.
