The Veronica Beanie

Tools:
– size H hook

-yarn size 4

-tapestry needle

-scissors

Terms:
-CH(chain) -SC(

-SC(single crochet) -HDC(

-HDC(half double crochet) -SLST(slipstitch) -HDC2TOG(halfdoublecrochet2together)

-HDC2TOG(half double crochet 2 together)
You will start the hat from the bottom up. First, you will create the ribbing. This pattern is written for an adult but can be easily adjusted for any size. Simply add to or take away the rows of ribbing keeping in mind the ribbing will stretch!

The Pattern:

The ribbing – CH 13
ROW 1- SC in the 2nd CH from the hook. SC all the way across, CH 1 and turn.

ROW 2- SC in the back loop all the way across. CH 1, turn.

ROW 3- 60: repeat row 2

At the end of row 60, making sure not to twist the ribbed ban. Bring the ends together and attach with a SL ST across to join. Then, you will turn the band where the seam is on the inside.

From here, the pattern will be worked in the round.

Round 12-17: CH1, HDC all the way around, SL ST, CH 1.

Closing the Beanie:

Weave the long tail in and out of the SC. Then you will pull tightly to “close up” the top of the hat. Sew closed with remaining tail and weave in any other ends.
