The Elizabeth Tunic – A FREE Crochet Pattern by YarnHookNeedles
Hey friends!
I recently had the privilege of creating a design for Jessica from the Hook Nook Blog. A crochet tunic perfect for Summer! I was so excited when making this piece I could hardly wait to share it with you all!
Crochet Tunic Pattern
I knew I wanted something versatile. Something you could easily dress up or dress down. The idea for a high, side-slit tunic came to mind and thus, the Elizabeth Tunic was born!
I used the gorgeous WE ARE KNITTERS Pima Cotton and it gave the perfect drape to this piece.
I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!
This is worked in two identical panels and can be worn as a swimsuit cover up or you can throw on some skinny jeans, heels and go out on the town. It literally is the perfect Summer staple piece.
Below you will find a link to the FREE pattern on Jessica’s blog. Head over and start making your very own Elizabeth Tunic today!

Hi Beautifull top can it be done with worsted weight yarn?
Julie
Hi Sybille, Thank you! And, yes, it can be done in worsted weight yarn, but you’ll probably have fewer stitches that indicated for your indicated size. I would recommend chaining the number indicated for your typical size top, work 1 row, then measure that against the sizes indicated in the pattern. For example, a M size would need a starting chain of 78, then work row 1, then measure the length which should be 37″. If your length is too short, then you’ll need to frog row 1 add some foundation chains. If your length is to long, then you need to omit some chains.

I tried to make this and it keeps getting wider as I go. The instructions say ES st then ch 1 across, but is that even in the last st, plus 3 more chains (so, 4 ch)? What exactly do I do in the very last st of each row? Is it an ES and then 3 ch?
Thanks!
Julie
Hello there, You’ll want to end the row with an ES and ch 3, not a ch 1, skip 1. If your piece is getting wider as you go, it could be from crocheting the ch 4 (ch 1 plus ch 3) into the turning chain of the previous row. Can you use a cashmere blend yarn with this pattern?
