I recently discovered a brand new (at least to me) yarn at Hobby Lobby. I was browsing the aisles and my eyes immediately landed on several textured and colorful skeins of the BERNAT Casa Yarn! If you love to work with color and textures…you’re gonna love today’s blanket pattern!

This pattern is so simple and easy but my oh my does it look incredible once you get it all worked up!!!

I created a really simple video too for you so you an easily learn how to do some basic, beginner tunisian crochet. I also have created a 6-size PDF of blankets that is available for you to purchase as well!

Tips and Info For Making the Casa Yarn Blanket:

GAUGE:

2sts X 1.25rows = 1”squared

STITCH USED: ((watch the video to learn exactly how to do this))

Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS)

Standard Reverse Row (SRR)

TOOLS:

12MM Tunisian Crochet Hook

Tapestry Needles

Pattern for the Ember Casa Yarn Blanket:

Baby Blanket (30”x36”) – Yardage: appr. 1400

Foundation Row: In the 2nd CH from the hook insert your hook, YO, draw up a loop. (Leave the loop and every loop hereafter on your hook.) You should get all the way to the end with 60 total loops on your hook.

Row 1 – Standard Reverse Row: YO, pull through one loop. *YO, pull through 2 loops. Repeat from * to the end. You should finish this row with one loop remaining on your hook.

Row 2 – Slide your hook behind the next stitch or vertical bar ***refer to the video link for visual instructions*** YO, draw up a loop. Repeat this all the way across keeping all the loops on your hook for a total of 60 loops.

Rows 3 – 90: repeat rows 1 & 2

BIND OFF ROW:

Slide your hook behind the next stitch or vertical bar. YO, draw up a loop and pull through. You should always be left with one loop on your hook and notice your blanket stitches “closing” or coming off.

***please refer to the video for full visual instructions***

Hello! I have just purchased this yarn and am now just waiting on my Tunisian hook to arrive to begin this blanket!! My question is how do you get the panels to be so even in each row when the yarn changes at random? Does the yarn have to be pre cut into different materials before beginning?
