Today’s beanie pattern is my most favorite so far! I love the open look and I have honestly been obsessing over the v-stitch lately.

I feel like I want to make all the things using this simple yet textural stitch. It was no surprise I found a way to incorporate it into my latest beanie design!

I would love to share with you all…the Victoria Beanie Pattern

Tools:

  • size H hook
  • size 4 yarn
  • scissors
  • tapestry needle

Terms:

  • SC (single crochet)
  • DC (double crochet)
  • HDC (half double crochet)
  • CH (chain)
  • SL ST (slip stitch)
  • VS (v-stitch)

VS: DC-CH 1-DC all in the same stitch

If you have been around YHN for any length of time, you will notice I like to use ribbing in my beanies. One of the reasons why I do this is because it allows for easier adjustment for makers to create the exact size beanie they need.

I also prefer to work my beanies from the bottom up because, let’s face it, I’m a sucker for slouchy beanies!

RIBBING:

CH 12

Row 1: in the 3rd CH from the hook place a HDC. Continue down the row with HDCs. CH 2. Turn

Rows 2-?: Place HDCs all the way across. CH 2. Turn

***do this until you have as many rows as you need making sure to keep a multiple of 13

To connect the band to make a “ring” you will SL ST the ends together, flip the band right side out and get ready to begin working in the round.

THE BEANIE PART

Round 1 – CH 1, SC in the same ST as the CH 1.SC all the way around making sure to keep a multiple of 13. SL ST to the CH 1. CH 3

Round 2 – skipping the next stitch you will place a VS (refer to the top to learn how to do the v-stitch) in the next ST, * skip the next ST, VS, skip the next ST. Rep from * all the way around. SL ST to the CH 3. CH 3

Round 3 – 14: repeat round 2

***be sure to leave a long tail when you tie off the final row

CLOSING THE TOP

To close the top you will use your long tail and weave it in and out of the top stitches. Once you weave all the way around the top you will pull it tight and then sew the rest of the space closed.

At this point, you can add a pompom, faux fur pom or leave it as is! You can decide exactly how you want to style it. I left mine without any topper and I love how it looks.

***you have my permission to sell items made with this pattern. Please do credit the original design however in any of your online listings.
