The Perfect HOMESPUN Yarn Blanket Pattern!

Oh, my word I am so in love with this chunky throw it’s ridiculous! If you decide to make one for yourself you WILL NOT be disappointed. It is perfect for fall and winter time. The size is big enough for two adults to cozy under. If you’ve got kiddos like me then there’s plenty of room for snuggling while watching your Friday night movie!

I posted a while back the crochet knit stitch when I was making a cowl. I knew I was going to want a throw blanket that could be worked up really quickly. However, I didn’t want giant holes in my work. I felt like with this yarn and the crochet knit stitch I would have the perfect combo in a blanket.

I discovered the yarn I used while browsing through a local store. They were limited in the number they carried so when I went to the Lion Brand site to look I discovered there are a ton of color options!

The color I chose was Pearl. (GET THE YARN HERE!)

This stuff is so soft it’s like wrapping up in a cloud. That is if one could actually wrap themselves in a cloud.

Let’s get started…

MATERIALS:

Lion Brand HOMESPUN (6 skeins)

Q Crochet Hook

Tapestry Needle

Scissors

CROCHET TERMS:

HDC (half double crochet)

SL ST (slip stitch)

PATTERN NOTES:

Below you will find a brief photo tutorial on how to accomplish the HDC stitch for this pattern.

Down below you will find the pattern. It’s very easy and a repeat of 2 rows. You can go as small or as large as you would like. If you want to duplicate the same one I made then the pattern will help you achieve this!

THE PATTERN:

CH – 100 + 2

R1 – HDC in 4th CH from the hook. Continue with HDC in all the way across. CH 2, Turn.

R2 – HDC in the front loop all the way across. CH 2, turn.

R3 – HDC in the back loop all the way across. CH 2, turn.

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until you reach your desired width. I just used 6 skeins of yarn and did a SL ST on the last row.

Once you are done with your rows you can sew in all the tails and spots where you connected the skeins.

Love this blanket. It’s perfect for the Lion Brand Homespun I just bought. What is the size of this afghan as you made it? I am having a friend crochet it for me – and I wanted an afghan that was about 70 x 75. I’m excited that the size is easily adjustable.

I know this is an old post, but is there a video of this pattern? I keep messing up. …I guess the blogger isn’t active anymore as she hasn’t responded to queries on here or on Etsy.

[…] Overall I am very pleased with how this turned out! I think for a quick gift I will be making more of these in the future. Maybe even a fluffy afghan with some of my favorite lion’s brand yarns! […]
