If you are looking for the perfect sweater pattern, then you are going to love the crochet calico sweater!
I have been loving all of the trending balloon sleeves I have been seeing on Pinterest and also on the runways. That being said, I knew I wanted to create something featuring sleeves like this!

Please keep in mind when choosing your size, this sweater is designed to be oversized. If you would like the sweater to be more fitted, please size down from your normal size.
The sweater is made from the bottom up. You will begin by creating your ribbing on the bottom and you will create an identical front and back panel. The sleeves are made in a similar way, from the bottom to the top.
There is an added feature of a ribbed collar. It is an added detail I used for this piece but you can choose to leave it off if you so desire!

SEAMING YOUR SWEATER TOGETHER:
You’re going to begin assembling your sweater by first creating the shoulder seams. You will lay your body panels out with the head pieces touching. You will want to decide how large you want your head hole. Typically the head holes ae between 8” – 12”
You will be attaching a ribbed collar so keep that in mind when you are seaming the shoulders.
The way I seam is by attaching the pieces with a simple SC row.
Once you have your shoulders seamed, you will then seam your sleeves. Taking one of your sleeves you will center it with the shoulder seam. Then you will do another SC row. ***Make sure when you are attaching your sleeves you will want to line them up evenly.
Take your sweater and fold it in half with right sides together. Then, beginning at the cuff you will SC the sides closed. Be sure you go slow and keep an eye on the stripes so they are all lined up.
RIBBED COLLAR:
After you have seamed everything you will need to count how many stitches there are in your head hole.
Then you will CH 14 and do another ribbed band for the count you got. For example, if there are 70 stitches in your head area, create a ribbed band with a total of 70 rows.
After you have made your collar you will attach it to your sweater with a SC row while your sweater is turned inside out.
After that, you will weave in your ends and enjoy!

If I use chunky should I make a smaller sweater ??

Hello. The stitches are simple, but I was taught by my grandmother who never used patterns. I’m not great at reading crochet patterns. I’m trying to learn, but yours has me stumped. What do all the numbers in parentheses mean?
Angel
what size is the jumper in the image made too?
looks amazing!

This is so beautiful. I am new back to crocheting and I wouldn’t ask except that I have scoured the internet for 30 minutes in vain. Would you mind explaining to me what your numbers within the parenthesis mean?? I remember all the abbreviations, but can’t seem to figure this out. Thank you!!

I bought this pattern and the panels I made according to the pattern are extremely short? I don’t understand what I could have done wrong, I followed the pattern, but the panel looks more like it would be a cropped sweater, not oversized
Katie
Looks great! Would love to make! Do you know the rough measurements in chest size for each size so I can estimate which one to make?
Ari
what weight wool is this? i want to make this in another colour but the listed wool isn’t in the colours i’d like :))

I love this sweater. But I want to make it in a solid color only. The stripe section is not clear to me it says the rows but not what to do in the rows. I assume it is ch1. ESC the rest of the row. Ch 1 and turn. Rep this row for the rest of the rows in the stripe section. Please clarify your striped sections. In addition if I want to make this in one color the adjustments needed. I apologize if the answer seems obvious or if I am being dense. Thank you in advance.

I manage a vape shop submission site and we have had a listing from a vape shop in the USA that likewise sells CBD product lines. A Month later, PayPal has contacted use to say that our account has been restricted and have requested us to get rid of PayPal as a payment method from our vape shop submission site. We do not sell CBD product lines like CBD oil. We merely offer advertising and marketing professional services to CBD companies. I have checked out Holland & Barrett– the UK’s Well known Health and wellness Store and if you take a good look, you will witness that they supply a pretty comprehensive stable of CBD product lines, primarily CBD oil and they also happen to take PayPal as a payment solution. It appears that PayPal is administering twos sets of rules to different firms. Because of this restriction, I can no longer accept PayPal on my CBD-related internet site. This has limited my payment options and right now, I am heavily contingent on Cryptocurrency payments and straightforward bank transfers. I have sought advice from a lawyer from a Magic Circle law office in The city of london and they stated that what PayPal is doing is definitely not legal and discriminatory as it ought to be applying a consistent benchmark to all firms. I am yet to consult with an additional attorney from a US law firm in London to see what PayPal’s legal position is in the United States. For the time being, I would be highly appreciative if anyone here at targetdomain could offer me with different payment processors/merchants that work with CBD firms.

I’m confused. Body of sweater rows 2-11 in color a, turn and go to color b but you say in color a for the next rows.
Danielle
For the ribbing, do you mean repeat row 3 rather than row 2?
Sara
to start, i love this sweater and i’m excited to finish making it.
i’m in the middle of the pattern and have a few suggestions for more beginners reading this pattern:
1) i noticed in the ribbing sections for both the body panels and the sleeves you say “repeat row 2” but it needs to be in the back loop only and that step in your pattern is row 3.
2) it would be helpful to add at the end of each section a note along the lines of “fasten off and weave in end” or something. until i scrolled down to the end of the pattern and saw you attach everything with single crochet, i was worried about if i needed to be leaving a long tail for sewing or anything.

Hello I absolutely love this pattern but I was wondering if you had a tutorial available? If not it’s fine. Other than that I just want to say this is so cool and I hope you continue to make more things that inspire you!

I am going to order my yarn for this right away! I want to make a 5x sweater. How many skeins of each yarn do I need to buy for a 5x? Will any worsted weight yarn I like work? Excitedly awaiting your response!
Lamanda
I would LOVE to make the 5x version of this project. I’m just waiting to know yow much yarn I will need of each color. I’ve already ordered the pattern, but it only gives yardage for a “medium” but the pattern doesn’t even reference a medium size. I’m so excited to make this.
