I’m finishing up the gifts for my three boys and I wanted to share with you the cute toddler mask I made for my two year old!
I was inspired by a character in one of the books we have. His name is Captain Kind and he wears a purple face mask. The other day I noticed my son walking around with the overly-sized (on him) TMNT mask I made for my older son’s birthday. I asked him if he was a ninja turtle and he looked at me and said very profoundly…
“No mommy! I’m captain kind!”
Yikes! I won’t make that mistake again! Not after creating this mask for him to wear so as not to be confused with a TMNT again 😉
One of the things I wanted to be sure to incorporate into this pattern was speed and simplicity. I know sometimes it’s hard to finish a pattern/project because there is more time involved than we have to give. I didn’t want time to be a reason you couldn’t make this mask for someone you know would love it!
WHAT I USED:
- 1 skein yarn
- H hook
- scissors
- tapestry needle
The estimated time on this project is 30-45minutes. Depending on how quickly you can crochet, this could work up in as little as 20 minutes!
THE PATTERN:
CH 100
R1- SC in second CH from the hook; SC all the way across, CH 1, Turn
R2 – Repeat R1
R3 – SC in the next 39 STS, Ch 15 (you’ll skip 10 sts), SC in next 2 STS, CH 15 (skip 10 STS), SC in remaining STS, CH 1, Turn
R4 – SC in next 36 STS, skip 1 ST, place 13 SC around the CH 15, SC in next 2 STS, place 13 SC around the CH 15, skip 1 ST, SC in all remaining STS, CH1, Turn
R5 – SC all the way across; tie off; weave in ends
This would be for a 2-4(maybe 5) year old. A lot of it depends on the child’s head size. You can easily make adjustments if you need to go bigger. If you need help just contact me or comment down below and I will help you out with resizing!
If you liked this pattern please head down below to subscribe! I send out a weekly newsletter containing all the previous week’s patterns and I also give you a peek at what you can look forward to the following week!
Christmas is less than 5 days away and 2016 is drawing to a rapid close. I hope you have a great rest of the week!
Until next time…

My daughter wants me to make the masks for her third grade class (8-9 years). They are doing a reading project dealing with super hero’s. It would be wonderful if You are able to help me make them larger. Thank you very much.
