Today’s beanie is a little more complex but I think with a little bit of patience you can definitely figure out how to work through this one!

Let’s get started with the Calvin Beanie Pattern

The Calvin Beanie
Tools:

-size H hook

-yarn size 4

-tapestry needle

-scissors

Terms:

-CH(chain) -SC(

-SC(single crochet) -DC(

-DC(double crochet) -SLST(slipstitch) -FPDC(

-SL ST(slip stitch)

-FPDC(front post double crochet) -DC2TOG(doublecrochet2together)

-DC2TOG(double crochet 2 together)
You will start the hat from the top down by creating a magic circle.

***This pattern is written for a standard adult size.

The Pattern:

Create the magic circle or ring. Place 12 DC inside the circle.

Round 1 -Place 2 DC in each ST all the way around. SL ST, CH 2

Round 2 -* DC, 2 DC in the next stitch. Repeat from * all the way around; SL ST to previous row CH 2. CH 2

Round 3 -* DC, DC, 2 DC in the next stitch. Repeat from * all the way around; SL ST to previous row CH 2. CH 2

Round 4 -* DC, DC, DC, 2 DC in the next stitch. Repeat from * all the way around; SL ST to previous row CH 2. CH 2.

Round 5 -DC all the way around; SL ST to previous row CH 2. CH 2

Cable Section:

Round 6 -* FPDC around the next 2 DC STS, DC in the next 3 STS. Rep from * all the way around. SL ST to previous row CH 2. CH 2.

Round 7 -Skip the 1st ST and place a FPDC into the next ST; working BEHIND the FPDC, place a FPDC into the skipped ST. Working forward, place a DC into the next 3 STS. * Skip next ST and place a FPDC into the next ST; Working BEHIND the FPDC, place a FPDC into the skipped ST. Working forward, place a DC into
the next 3 STS. Repeat from * all the way around. SL ST to previous row CH 2. CH 2

Round 8 -repeat round 6

Round 9 -Skip 1st FPDC and place a FPDC around the next FPDC; Working in FRONT of the FPDC, place a FPDC around the skipped FPDC ST. Working forward, place a DC into the next 3 STS. * Skip the next ST and place a FPDC into the next ST; working in FRONT of the FPDC,  place a FPDC around the skipped FPDC ST. Working forward, place a DC into the next 3 STS. SL ST to previous row CH 2. CH 2

Round 10 -repeat round 6

Round 11 -repeat round 7

Round 12 -repeat round 6

Round 13 -repeat round 9 ending with a CH 1 instead of CH 2.

Round 14 -DC all the way around. SL ST to previous round CH 1. CH 1.

Decrease Section:

Round 15 – *DC in the next 6 sts. DC2TOG. Rep from * all the way around. SL ST to previous round CH 1. CH 1.

Round 16 – *DC in the next 4 sts. DC2TOG. Rep from * all the way around. SL ST to previous round CH 1. CH 1.

Round 17 -SC all the way around, SL ST, tie off and weave in your ends.
