Do you love making items to decorate your home with? Me too! I designed the simple knit hygge throw to complement our home’s design aesthetic and I’m thrilled with the result! ***check out a few books below teaching you about hygge design***
We are currently renovating from top to bottom our very first home and I’m always looking for ways to decorate our home with things I can either DIY or make handmade.
Blankets are the perfect way to spruce up a space and add some color and character! Plus, who doesn’t LOVE cozying up under a snuggly throw?
Red Heart yarns came out with some gorgeous bulky yarn (size 5) called Hygge (pronounces hoo-gah) and I have to say…it’s uhh-mazing!!!
Hygge is in!
This yarn is perfect for making just about any style of blanket you could dream up! The color selection is fabulous and offers such a cozy look to any space.

Below you will find the FREE pattern for the standard throw size blanket and if you aren’t looking to make that size but rather something smaller or larger, then you can purchase the PDF with sizes like standard baby blanket size all the way to King-size!
BUT WAIT! There is also a video tutorial I have included as well!
This pattern features the stockinette knitting stitch which is basically a right and wrong side pattern with knit stitches displaying on the right side and purl stitches displaying on the wrong side.
The simple hygge throw is great for learning how to knit the two most basic stitches you would need for making just about any type of knitwork you could imagine.
Because of the size of this yarn and needles, you will be using, you can get this beauty worked up really quick!

I was excited when I saw that I could make a 50” x 65” throw with just 4 skeins of this yarn. I just finished knitting the 3rd skein and I have at most, 30” and 75 rows. At this rate, I will need at least 5 more skeins. My blanket looks exactly like the one pictured, it’s just not long enough. Am I doing something wrong?
Jerica
what needle size are you using? are you using the hygge yarn?
Beth Bittner
I’m using 10 mm, size 15 circular and the Hygge yarn, exactly what the pattern calls for.
Dona
I ditto this comment!!!!

Hi can I use straight 8mm needles and Bernat Blanket 10.5 oz/300 g. Would I cast on the same amount.
Thankyou 😊
Lindsey
Hi! Is this four of the 5oz balls or 8oz?
Jerica
Hi! Great question! This would be for the 8oz ball 🙂
Sara
I knitted a baby blanket with size 8 needles in the garter stitch, it was soft but oh so stretchy. Should I have used smaller needles, I ripped it all out

Is the 50” going to be the cast on length or the number of rows length? Wondering how long to make the cast on tail from watching the video…
