As I sit here writing out this post, I am reflecting back on what has been one of the most difficult and trying years of my life.
We started the year off with the birth of our son Jonathan who was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate. It was scary, hard and I spent many nights those first three months crying myself to sleep. I had never in my life felt so inadequate as a mother.
As the months moved on we climbed over mountains and conquered huge milestones!
Today at eleven months old, he is crawling, laughing, eating and even says “mama” when he gets mad enough!
I’m so grateful to God for the blessing this little fella is to our family! What seemed impossible in the beginning seems like a distant memory now.
My husband has endured so much this year too. He was let go from two different jobs and made a valiant attempt at starting his own business. However, things just didn’t work out and nothing happened according to the way we planned it. Many lessons were learned and I’m grateful for the experience of it all!
Even though I started this site initially as a mommy blog back in 2015, I never imagined it would have become what it has and continue in its growth more and more every day.
My husband has said many times over the last several weeks, “I can really tell you absolutely LOVE what you’re doing with this blog.”
If you didn’t already know, this is NOT my first blogging rodeo. In fact, I’ve made attempts at blogging over the last seven years! Ugh, I hate to admit that but it’s true. It wasn’t until this past summer I discovered where exactly I fit in the blogging world!
Guess what, it wasn’t at all where I thought I needed to be. I was hung up on doing what was “trending” and not what was truly in my heart. In the last four months, I have made a complete overhaul of this once mommy blog and I must say…I’m humbled!
NEVER would I have imagined the growth I have experienced over that short time span and NEVER would I have imagined the opportunities coming my way!
My husband and I have some major plans in store for 2017 and we are so thrilled to have this opportunity to be working alongside one another. He is definitely my perfect match because he keeps me grounded while encouraging me to pursue my dreams with all I have!
It’s also been neat to watch my children taking an interest in what I have been doing. We are blessed to be homeschoolers and each day the older kids sit with me as I go over new crochet stitches and they let me know if a pattern I’m working on is cute or not! Even my son has learned how to crochet this year! My two older girls have begun to learn knitting too which is so exciting!
We approached this new business, Yarn|Hook|Needles with the desire to create something our children could some day be a part of.
As we approach 2017 here are some things you can look forward to happen with YHN:
- Crochet Kits with YHN Canvas Bags
- eBooks compiles of patterns for all sorts of projects
- our new YouTube channel YHN Studios
- Knitting Kits with YHN Canvas Bags
- New Patterns
- and so much more!
I can spill all the beans but taking the lid off and letting you look in the jar is totally okay! I won’t keep you any longer, but more than anything I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and let you know how grateful I am for each one of you!
It is because of every single person who visits this site I am able to do the things I am doing and bring you so many awesome things in the coming year!
YHN is a company I started with the desire to make a difference in people’s lives! We aren’t just about making things through crochet and knitting. YHN is a company that is doing things that truly matter and we would love for you to come on this journey with us!
From our family to yours,
