The Perfect Lacy Crochet Shawl FREE Pattern
Weather is crazy here in the Midwest! We have days that make you want to flip on the AC and then there are other days where you want to make a fire and wrap yourself in all the cozy knit things!
My inspiration for this lacy crochet shawl was trying to marry the seasons of winter and spring.
I was at JoAnn’s browsing through the yarn and spotted a gorgeous colorway by BigTwist called ‘pink denim’. It had blushing pink tones mixed with hues of rose and cream. I felt like it was the perfect choice for making something more dainty and feminine.
For this shawl, I used a stitch called the arched lace. I really love how easily I was able to learn this stitch. To be honest, lacy stitched tend to intimidate me. I feel like they are easier to mess up and I’m always afraid that’s what I am gonna do.

Jerica
YAY! It would definitely make a lovely Christmas gift!
Madeline
Can you give a better estimate of yarn yardage? 2skeins can range from 300 to 600 yards. Pattern looks very pretty. Thanks.
Jerica
Oh, I am sorry for not including the yardage. For the skeins I had, they contained 164 yards each. I hope this helps! Thanks for reminding me to include the yardage!
Mary
Thank you!
Sara
Cheryl
Ch – chain
Sc – single crochet
DC – double crochet
I hope this helps. I don’t know the Spanish translation of these terms.
Kathy
How many chains do you need to make the med-large shawl. Thanks for your help.
Jerica
Hi, Kathy! If you maintain the multiple as stated in the pattern you would go as long as your desired length. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for stopping by!

A lovely pattern to make. I am a size large and started with a chain of 201 stitches – if I make it again I would start with a chain of 241 because it would be long enough to wrap it. I used between 2 and 3 balls, would probably need 4 balls for the bigger size.

Hi
Thanks very much for a great easy pattern. I used a cotton yarn and turned it into a poncho to use for those slightly cooler summer days. It was quick and easy and I ended up making a few as Christmas presents.

I’m trying to figure out what a TR is suppose to be. The first one says the chain 6 is a TR and 2 ch. A little further down it says to TR in the last sc. So I’m a little confused.
EJ
TR is a triple, or treble crochet

I’ve never been able to master a lacy pattern. Can’t get the rhythm going. But I think I can do this one. At least I’m going to give it a try!
maimoona
I will certainly try

Do you have a video that accompanies this pattern? To my surprise, I cannot figure out this pattern. It looks easy & I wanted to give to a Cancer patient going through chemo. But, something is off. I made the foundation & seemed easy. But, ends there. Row 2 is confusing….going to keep trying. But, if clarification can be provided, would appreciate any direction.

Can’t wait to give it a try , what weight yarn did you use, would DK be ok for this pattern ?
Julie
Hi Tracey, I used a category 4 (worsted) weight yarn. DK would look just as beautiful and drape nicely, since the stitches would be a tad smaller you may find that you have to crochet more chain’s and rows to get the size that you like, but that’s ok, just chain a multiple of 8+1 and you should be gold.

hi, this is a lovely lacy pattern indeed.
I’ve never tried a lacey pattern because it does look complicated, but this one looks easier and I think I will give a try.
I need a gift for a very good friend of mine. But I would like to clarify that this is not a shawl, it is considered more like a wrap then a shawl.
Hope I can achieve this pattern.
Anahita Chothia
I am a beginner and this looked like a simple design. Really excited to try it out. Please can you help me? At the end of row 2, how many 5-chain arches should we end up with? I end up with 15, but the math doesn’t add up. Thank you in advance.
Julie
Hi Anahita, You should have 20 5-chain arches. How many chains did you work initially?
Haley
Can you provide a video? I somehow keep getting shorter and shorter with each row…
Julie

amani
hi,
im still confused of the end of the row 1, i chained 256 but i had 6 chain left at the end of the row , and not knowing where to omit the sc!! 🙈🙈
Julie
Hi Amani, You’ll want to chain 257 to maintain the multiple of 8+1. The repeat in row 1 is *CH 5, skip 5 CHs, 1 SC into next 3 CHs; so when you get to the end of row 1 your last repeat will look like *CH 5, skip 5 CHs, 1 SC into next 2 CHs;

This is your statement from the post “The main thing is to keep the correct multiples. For this stitch, you will need to maintain a multiple of 8 + 2” BUT in several comment replies you state the multiple should be 8+1. Which is correct? Thanks!
