It’s summer time and that means time for making crochet and knitting items other than beanies and scarves!
CHECK OUT MY RECENT ROUNDUP POST where I share a collection of Homegood crochet patterns. You will love discovering new designers on Etsy.
I have been determined not to fall into a crochet and knitting hibernation mode. I love adding handmade decor wherever I can in our home. Pillows can do for a room what paint does! It’s like a splash of colorful character for the sofa or bed.
I had discovered a super comfy, jumbo yarn at Hobby Lobby and I knew I wanted to make something for the house with it. I debated with lots of ideas and I finally decided on making a pillow cover. I have two colors in this yarn so I plan to make a few more for the sofa and our bed.
This particular project takes less than an hour to work up, so if you’re looking for something quick then this is the project for you!
- 2 skeins of YarnBee yarn (hobby lobby) in the color teal
- 25 MM hook
- 12X12 pillow form (insert)
If you don’t know where to pick up a hook of this size. Below I have linked a few Etsy Shops which carry them!
***make 2 panels
Working in the 3rd chain from the hook, place a HDC (half double crochet) in each chain all the way across. CH 1 and turn.
Row 2 – 8: HDC all the way across, CH 1. Turn; At the end of row 8 you will tie off leaving a long tail on ONE of the panels.
With your long tail, you will lay the panels on top of one another and simply weave the tail around the outer part. Once you have done three sides, insert your pillow form. Then continue closing up the cover.
Now you have a SUPER squishy, soft pillow that will be the envy of all who come sit on your sofa! 🙂
If this pillow is too big and doesn’t fit your style. Check out my other pillow pattern!
