Crochet Jumbo Acorn (with Pattern!)

Make a Jubo Acorn! Free Pattern Included!

It’s FALL ya’ll!!!

That means its time to pull out the DIY crafts, yarn, glue gun and get to work!

So for this pattern I knew I was wanting to make something that was an acorn. I thought about making a garland but then I started brainstorming!

I decided I was going to create an acorn large enough to be placed with other mantle decor. I love how it turned out!!!

Here is what I used:

  • H hook (5.00mm)
  • 2 colors of yarn
  • Tapestry Needle

The first thing I did was to create a magic ring. Here’s a video tutorial if you need to learn how to do this.

RND 1 – SC 8 in the ring

RND 2 – 2 SC in each ST (16 total)

RND 3 – SC in each ST (16 total)

RND 4 – (1 SC in next ST, 2 SC in next ST) (24 total)

RND 5-10 – SC in each ST (24 total)

RND 11 – (1 SC in next ST, sc2tog) (16) VIDEO TUTORIAL HERE

***this is the point where you’re going to add the stuffing

RND 12 – sc2tog (8 total)

Tie off and sew in ends.

Start with the magic ring.

RND 1 – SC 8 in the ring

RND 2 – 2SC in each ST (16 total)

RND 3 – (SC in next ST, 2 SC in same ST) (24 total)

RND 4 – (SC in next 5 ST, 2 SC in same ST) (28 total)

RND 5-6 – SC in each ST ( 28 total)

RND 7 – (SC in next 9 ST, sc2tog, SC in next 8 ST, sc2tog, SC in next 5 ST, sc2tog)

Join with SL ST to next ST. Tie off (leave a long tail) and sew on the hat to the body with a tapestry needle.

I really feel like this project goes rather quickly. Once you get one finished the next one works up pretty fast.

Also, for my stuffing I used some old yarn I had gotten on sale that wasn’t very good quality. So I used that to instead of poly-fil. I suggest using whatever  you have on hand. This doesn’t need to be an expensive project by any means.

I made 8 because we have 8 people in our family. You can make as many or as few as you’d like. These 8 took me about an hour and a half. So not too bad.

Now I have another piece added to my fall mantle decor. I’ll be adding some crochet leaves, pompoms and I’ll be decorating my pumpkins too!
